Working alongside Sanity's product team, we designed a new media library for Sanity Studio that turns assets into structured, reusable content.

Starting point

Sanity is a programmable platform for structuring and managing content, built to help teams create custom workflows and content-driven experiences. As Sanity unified its Studio app into a single cohesive platform, the existing asset management offered only a handful of features—pushing many customers to rely on external tools. Sanity invited BB to embed with their product design team and help conceptualise a fully integrated media library that could replace traditional folder hierarchies with a more structured and scalable approach to managing assets.

Outcome

Working alongside Sanity's Head of Product Design and Product Manager, we helped define core concepts, map out functionality in workshops, and translate ideas into developer-ready design flows. The new media library turns images, videos, and files into structured content—extending them with custom metadata and references—so assets become a single source of truth that can be referenced across multiple projects. Over a six-month build, we worked in lockstep with Sanity's developers to adapt flows to technical constraints, and the media library is now live.
